Two of the UK's finest acts on the burgeoning international shoegaze scene have joined forces to support the radio station that has helped sustain and develop many of the movement's best bands. Gateshead's Half has collaborated with Wozniak from Edinburgh on the track 'Mute Swan' which is to be released as a pay-what-you-like download through Bandcamp with all income going to DKFM.
Broadcasting out of Fresno, California, DKFM has been at the forefront of the genre's resurgence since it launched in 2012 but more recently has faced an uncertain future due to changes in US Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) fees.
Half, aka Jonny Gray said "I'll always be grateful to DKFM for supporting Half from day one in giving my debut release Mind Laps it's first airplay anywhere in the world. I think the collaboration with Wozniak has produced a track in Mute Swan that is greater than a sum of its parts and hope it goes some way to give something back to DKFM and the scene as whole - we'd be lost without it"
Simon Cuthbert-Kerr of Wozniak commented "DKFM has supported Wozniak since our first release, and is one of a handful of stations that gives invaluable exposure to new and emerging artists. The global reach of stations like DKFM has helped Wozniak be heard all across the globe. The potential effects of the new CRB fees could be devastating for these outlets, and it's important to do what we can to help sustain them".
